DOWN THE WIRE, Mark Flanagan and Jimmy Bergin

Say Yes

Just say yes to all my love

Just say yes to God above

Thanks in advance for every day

Long may we run, long may we play

An' I want for you to hold me on this road

Cos' there's hope for every sinner so I'm told

Just say yes to life with me

No more thirty-third degrees

I'm giving thanks for all these trees

And for the waves down on the beach

An' I'll build for you a house of wood and stone

Cos I love you darlin'

I love you to your bones

So just say yes to all my love

Just say yes to God above

Thanks in advance for every day

It's hard to handle all my ways

I stumble round on feet of clay, yeah

So forgive me should I ever leave this road

Well there's hope for every sinner so I'm told

Heart to god and hand to man

I'll do the very best I can

But I don't always understand

An' I don't always have a plan

And I wonder will you love me when I'm old

Well there's hope for every sinner so I'm told

So just say yes to all my love

Just say yes to God above

Thanks in advance for every day

Long may we run, long may we play

Dominoes With Elvis

Mary went down to the bus stop below

She waited for an hour but the bus didn't show

So she sat on the ground playing Dominoes

And talking to Elvis Presley

Mary got a job down in Burger Trash

She used to give you a wink with her one eyelash

How she danced all night to the Monster Mash

In the garden with Elvis Presley

Elvis left the building at the crack of dawn

He just fell through the window and his glasses were gone

An' his white suit stained from the grass on the lawn

He was destined for arrestin' later on

Mary got busted for armed robbery

She got carried away on a shopping spree

And it's 25 years in the penitentiary

Playing dominoes with Elvis Presley

Playing dominoes with Elvis Presley

What would you do?

They come from here, they come from there

They come from pretty much everywhere

From the frozen north to the beautiful south

Many come running hand to mouth

Well over here we got our share

Of problems they got everywhere

Dull ignorance and poverty

And a kind of economic jealousy

Wo-ho, what would you do?

Wo-ho, your mama's dyin' and your sister too

Them guys pointing guns at you

Wo-ho, on you go now

Wo-ho, through the mud and snow

You gotta get somewhere

Some place where the people care

So you run for cover run for life

Gotta holdall blanket and a pocket knife

Freezing, starving it's 10 below

Easy targets when you're stuck in snow

Or they killed your papa and they burnt your home

Their machetes cut you to the bone

On you go through the heat and dust

If the thirst don't get you the militia must

Wo-ho, what would you do?

Wo-ho, your mama's dyin' and your sister too

Them guys pointing guns at you

Wo-ho, it's 10 below now

Wo-ho, through the mud and snow

You gotta get some place

Before you vanish without a trace

Strange Plants

 Green gods disguised as weeds

Blew down like seeds in the dead of night

They hit the ground

Around my town without a sound

Strange plants came to life

Little things that grow in the night

Change your mind, change your life

Strange plants (rept)

People came from miles

Around to kiss the very ground

The strange plants grew upon

And old women prayed in the shade

Of the shadow of the Pentagon

You look around

You look around

You look around, round, round, round

Strange plants (rept)

I once beheld one like you

With strange plants in their eyes

So let's all make haste and give chase

To the land where love never dies

You look around

You look around

You look around,round, round, round

Strange plants (rept)

Kamikaze Waltz

 Here comes the dark

Standing like a statue in the park

Feels like I'm sinking when all inside me drowns

Siren howls like a baby

Sky comes tumbling down

Deep inside my shell

Waiting like a boxer for the bell

Dreams of love and glory lay scattered all around

I suck for life for holy air my feet stuck to the ground

And if my trusty bottle should accidentally fall

I'll be stoned cold sober sitting on this wall

Well I stumbled past my future and I've fallen on my faults

Hey Mr DJ play a kamikaze waltz

My only friend

We stumble on that rocky road again

And it seems like I need you more and more everyday

And I know that your window's just a stone's throw away

I could be mistaken but I believe it's getting light

And it feels like I've been sitting on this forsaken wall all night

Hey, hey, hey you

Hey Mr DJ play me something new

Where Lies My Home

 If I'm moving, I'm living

If I'm living, I'm giving

Every day try to do like I should

Woke up this morning, feeling good

Got a monkey in my pocket and a V8 under my hood

There's music in metal, I heard it this morning

As new day was dawning, on a hard road to heaven

I don't know, I don't know

Where lies my home, sweet home

My home, sweet home

From here on to somewhere

Just glad to be out there

Coast to coast, place to place

Sitting still in a moving space

Just talking to myself

I don't know, I don't know

Where lies my home

My home, sweet home

Now the rain is falling

Tail-lights are crawling home

Dust we are and to dust we go

Meanwhile down here we just roll, and we roll, and we roll

On a hard road to heaven

I don't know, I don't know

Where lies my home

I don't know, I don't know

Where lies my home, sweet home

My home sweet home, my home sweet home

Beachcombing

Come fly with me

To the beautiful south

Hold my fortune

While I kiss your mouth

Heaven knows what I'll find

If I'm just beachcombing with you in mind

Let's get married in a pink hotel

Pink carnations in a wishing well

When they made you

They must've broken the mould

You're such a retrobate

With stars of gold

And I think I love you, more than that

If it's just drink talking, I'll drink to that

Let's get sparry in all our finery

Funky you, and funky me

Heaven knows what I'll find

I'm just beachcombing with you in mind

Refill my heart

At the edge of town

Keep your hat on

Keep your hat on

Keep your hat on

When the sun beats down

Pretty Zen

Fire on a mountain time to move away

I've overstayed my welcome here for far too many days

Here I go again now losing all my friends

All my close relationships are getting pretty Zen, pretty Zen, pretty Zen

I can't see the moon tonight

I can't see the stars

The sky's a prison window with imaginary bars

I need a spoon of honey to make the medicine go down

I couldn't find one sweet enough for nobody in this town

In this town, in this town

Le monde il dort

Je fume ma tete

Je bois un cou encore

Je suis tres facile

Tu peut lire ma vie

De A jusqu'a Z

Fire on a mountain time to move away

I've overstayed my welcome here for far too many days

Here I go again now losing all my friends

All my close relationships are getting pretty Zen, pretty Zen, pretty Zen

Last Rose

Days grow colder

I'll get older and the summers gone

So long, so long

Friends are talking

Feel like walking

A mile or two, with you

The last rose of summer

Every night I pray for sleep

But sleep won't come

He's up and run, lonely

Nothing's clear

We're all in fear of losing it

Bit by bit

So slowly

And I can't reach you down the wire

Stuck on red, my car's on fire

I can't reach you down the wire

Stuck on red, my car's on fire

You're the last rose of summer

And I can't keep you in water

Forever.... and ever and ever

Playhouse

Jove came to tear my my playhouse down

He said he'd raze it to the ground

Well he shot the mirrors and the chandeliers

All the sweethearts and the fugiliers

He'll have bad luck for seven years

Jove say get on your hands and knees

You're gonna try out some of these now

I took a red one, it didn't work

I took two more and I went berserk

Stood outside in morning dew and I see Jove drive by with his wrecking crew

They're gonna tear my playhouse down now

Jove say “I'm sending you to hell”

I just laughed and cried “You might as well”

So I got my ticket on a hell-bound train

Changed at Heaven in the pouring rain

I met two angels in the Hall of Fame

They said my playhouse will rise again

Who's gonna tear my playhouse down now?

Carry Me Down  (lost track 11)

 Carry me down real slow

Carry me down real slow

Carry me down these stairs I know

Carry me down real slow

The sun gonna shine all day

When they take me away

Big black car take me to the yard

Look at my wife and kid

Look at my wife and kid

Wondering what it was I did

So carry me down real slow

Carry me down real slow

Now I care how fast I go

Carry me down real slow

Flowers by the yard

There must be 15 cars

He was loved” they say, they say

He was loved

Look at the big black cars

Rolling down the boulevard

Who was that” they said they said

I don't know but he's dead”

So carry me down real slow

Carry me down real slow

Carry me down these stairs I know

Carry me down these stairs I know

Now I care how fast I go

Now I care how fast I go

So carry me down real slow
